IT’S RAINING

“If it is raining in your village, then it is raining in your compound.”

The preacher at church once said this. It sounds very obvious and not very wise; hardly profound and impactful. Forget the climatic absurdities where it rains in only half the village. Most times, if it’s really raining, it’s raining in that whole place.

So what was the context of this statement? It was following the Bible readings about Jesus and the miracles He was performing all over the place: healing the sick, casting out demons, redeeming hearts and lives. People would just touch his clothes and be healed. There was a revival happening. And yet, there were probably people in those places that never got to experience even one miracle. We can call it unbelief, but it can also be a lack of wisdom.

See, the preacher went on to say that it could be raining, but you could be standing under the rain holding the biggest, brightest, most expensive umbrella known to man. Yes. Do you see it? While the blessing is raining down on the church you go to, at work, in your family, it seems that you are the one that keeps missing out. Why? You are proudly prancing around in the rain under your umbrella, wondering what is wrong with all the “fools” walking around without one.

The umbrella doesn’t have to be so complicated to understand. It could be your perceptions, education, family background, company, anything that keeps you feeling “safe” and yet not experiencing fully the cleansing and blessing action of the rain. Be advised that we are talking about a spiritual type of rain, and I’m not telling you to stand in the middle of an actual physical downpour… Unless you are into colds and fever 😁 😁

I ask you today: What is it that is happening around you that you desire to tap into spiritually? What is your umbrella? How will you, by faith, get rid of your umbrella?
